How to Support C.O.P.S.

Donate Online

You may make a gift to C.O.P.S. on-line.  Payment methods offered are:  credit card, check, bill me, and securities.  If you use your credit card, "LIC ORG" is what will appear on your credit card statement.  If you choose to give securities on-line, Independent Givers of America will act as the broker for the transfer.  Click the "Donate Now" button to be taken to the secure server to make your gift to C.O.P.S. today.  An acknowledgment will be sent when your gift is received.

Law enforcement organizations donating to C.O.P.S. will become honorary Partners in Law Enforcement and their name will be displayed on a banner at National Police Week in Washington, DC.

CFC United Way State Employee Campaigns

C.O.P.S. is a participating member of Human Care Charities of America and a proud participant of the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC).  C.O.P.S. is #11183 in the CFC.  C.O.P.S. is included in many other United Way appeals, corporate campaigns and State Employee Charitable Campaigns.

Individuals, corporations, and labor and fraternal police organizations can make donations to C.O.P.S.  Many sponsor special events to raise funds.  Donations can also be made through payroll deductions to the CFC (#11183), State Employee Charitable Campaigns (SECC), or your local United Way.

The CFC number (#11183) is nationwide for all local CFC campaigns.  C.O.P.S. must be accepted, however, in each local United Way campaign, so a local "cheerleader" is needed to get the ball rolling.  Check with your local United Way campaign office to get their regulations that would allow employee donations to be designated for C.O.P.S.  The C.O.P.S. National Office will provide whatever information they need.

C.O.P.S. has been approved for participation in numerous state employee campaigns through its affiliation with Independent Charities of America.  Read the state campaign brochure carefully to find C.O.P.S.  If C.O.P.S. is not listed, check with your local campaign headquarters to see if you can designate your donations to C.O.P.S.  Contact the C.O.P.S. National Office for any additional assistance.

Host or Sponsor a Special Event

From golf tournaments to 10K walks and runs to motorcycle rodeos to poker tournaments to a cross-country bike trek, fishing tournaments, groups of people all across the country raise funds to help C.O.P.S.

Businesses can sponsor various National Police Week activities for survivors and any of our other programs for survivors.

Make a Matching Gift

Many companies have matching gifts programs through which they can double or sometimes even triple the charitable donations made by their employees.  Through corporate gift matching, your employer can multiply your donation to C.O.P.S.  Check with your company's Human Resources office to see if they offer gift matching and to find out about their contribution criteria.  If your employer does offer this program, your Human Resources department should provide you with a matching gift form or on-line form.  C.O.P.S. will verify receipt of your gift.  If your company doesn’t have a program in place, ask them to start one!

Recycle Cell Phones

The Charitable Recycling Team wants to assist you and the environment by making it easy to dispose of used cell phones. Because cell phones and their batteries contain many hazardous materials that can harm the environment if not disposed of properly, it's important to know how and where to recycle e-waste in an environmentally-responsible way.

The Charitable Recycling Program encourages the donation of used cell phones and will provide a monetary contribution to charity for each cell phone donated, regardless of age or condition.
