C.O.P.S. Outward Bound® Adventure is planned for teenagers and young adults (15-20 years of age) who are children of law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty, as determined by C.O.P.S. criteria.

What to Expect
Outward Bound® is an adventure-based program structured to inspire character development, self-discovery, compassion for others, and to actively engage in creating a better world. This program is designed to challenge surviving children to overcome the obstacles they face in their lives after losing their parent to a line-of-duty death.

This year, Outward Bound® Adventure is a water rafting trip taking place on the Colorado River through the Canyonlands National Park in Cataract Canyon, Utah. The Colorado River is a vital source of water for 40 million people. Its extensive system of dams, reservoirs, and aqueducts divert almost its entire flow for agricultural irrigation and urban water supply. Outward Bound® will give participants the opportunity to recognize and navigate various river obstacles, work as a team with other surviving children, and feel the exhilaration of the rushing rapids.

We hope that by attending Outward Bound® Adventure , surviving children will get a chance to relax in a comfortable setting that is removed from their everyday life, where they can make everlasting friendships with peers who can truly understand what they are going through.

Travel Information

Please do not make any travel arrangements until you receive confirmation from C.O.P.S. that you have been selected as a participant. First-time attendees will have preference over requests from returning participants.

After confirmation: Attendees will be sent detailed information to book their travel arrangements.
